The warehouse was attacked on January 6 with the help of drones belonging to the Security Service of Ukraine. Explosions and a fire were recorded at the facility.
In his post, Sergei Sitnikov, the region’s governor, only mentioned damage to “several facilities” in the Neysk district as a result of “falling debris” from drones that were allegedly shot down by Russian air defense forces.
According to him, additional medical teams have been sent to the Neysk district to provide assistance to the victims, and medical aircraft have been prepared for use if necessary.
According to the SSU, this arsenal was of strategic importance to the Russian military. It was used to supply ammunition to lower-level warehouses that supplied Russian army units in Ukraine.
It had previously been attacked, notably in May 2025.
In the morning, the region’s governor announced that Ukrainian UAVs had allegedly been fought off in the region’s Neysk district.
Locals observed at least three drones in the sky, and then heard explosions, the sounds of some of them were captured on surveillance cameras.
Subsequently, the operational headquarters decided to immediately evacuate residents of the southern part of the city of Neya “for security reasons.” However, the authorities did not specify the reason for this decision.
