A fresh satellite image has emerged that confirms the destruction of an underground bunker where Shahed kamikaze drones were stored.
The CyberBoroshno Telegram channel published the photo.
This image allowed to confirm the effectiveness of the strike on January 26, 2025, which the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine reported.
“Units of the Ukrainian Air Force, in cooperation with other units of the Ukrainian Defense Forces, struck at the storage facilities of the Russian invaders’ strike UAVs in the Oryol region of Russia,” the Ministry reported.
Given the statement and the nature of the damage to the protected object, it is likely that the strike was carried out using Storm Shadow/SCALP missiles, whose warheads are designed specifically to destroy bunkers.
According to the General Staff, the damaged facility contained thermobaric warheads, which are used to equip drones.
“The results and extent of the damage are being clarified, but it is known that more than 200 Shaheds will no longer be used against our country,” the General Staff said.
This is not the first time this facility has been hit. On December 26, 2024, Storm Shadow cruise missiles already hit the Shahed kamikaze drone service center in the Oryol region of Russia.
The facility, which consisted of several concrete-protected structures, was a warehouse for the storage, maintenance, and repair of Shahed kamikaze drones.
According to the data published by the Russian Telegram channel ASTRA, at least three Storm Shadow cruise missiles hit their intended target in the Oryol region.
At the end of December 2024, Storm Shadow missiles hit a Russian command bunker in the city of Lgov in the Kursk region. Sources of the ASTRA telegram channel then reported that 8 Russian soldiers were killed on the spot, and 22 others were injured.
“I can’t see anything, but it’s a mess. The fire has started. The guys are all in the bunker, a lot of people,” one of the eyewitnesses shared.
