The Russian military disguises multiple rocket launchers as conventional trucks to protect them from Ukrainian reconnaissance.

Photos of the invaders’ combat vehicle were released on social media.

The Ukrainian aerial reconnaissance unit spotted the Russian 2B26 Grad MRL on the chassis of the KAMAZ truck, with its launcher and loader module closed with a tent.

The Russians were probably counting that the vehicle with a disguised launcher is visually very similar to conventional KAMAZ trucks common in the Russian troops.

The Ukrainian unit was able to detect the moment when the MRL was deployed to the firing position, where the crew quickly removed the tarpaulin and brought rocket launchers into combat position.

According to the original source of the published photos, the Russian multiple rocket launcher could not have been hit and left its position.

It should be noted that the camouflage was executed quite qualitatively. The invaders also benefit from the very small number of manufactured MRLs on the chassis of the KAMAZ-5350 truck.

The main chassis used by the Armed Forces of Ukraine and Russia for 122mm MLRS are trucks of the Ural series, namely Ural-375D and Ural-4320.

The Russians are presumably actively masking their artillery systems due to the intensification of the counter-battery warfare of the Ukrainian artillery brigades and the active operation of reconnaissance drones in the rear, which are detecting the artillery installations of the invaders on the approach.

Since June, the Armed Forces of Ukraine started to actively use HIMARS missile systems even against single targets to combat enemy artillery. This allowed to significantly knock out brigade artillery groups and rocket battalions of the invaders.

Thus, according to OSINT analysts of the Oryx team, who calculate the loss of equipment based on publicly available photo and video evidence, from June 2023 to August 5, Ukrainian forces destroyed 109 pieces of artillery. This list includes self-propelled and towed systems, of which Russians lost 42 in June, 60 in July, and 7 in August.
