The Russian military reported a Ukrainian advance toward two villages in the Kursk region following the isolation of the entire area due to a strike on a bridge over the Seym River.
Russian military Telegram channels published statements and photos from the scene.
Enemy sources reported the buildup of Ukrainian forces near the Russian-Ukrainian border and the beginning of offensive actions in the Glushkovsky district of the Kursk region. Activity was also observed 60 kilometers west of the operational zone in the Sudzhansky district, where major fighting in the Kursk area had recently taken place.
It involves the deployment of infantry on quad bikes, as well as the use of IMR-2 and UR-77 mine clearing vehicles toward the border settlement of Tyotkino.
An infantry group advanced from the Ukrainian village of Ryzhivka, while equipment became active near the village of Bezsalivka.
Additionally, the use of IMR-2 vehicles to clear engineering barriers has been reported in the area of the border village Novyi Put, located 17 kilometers east of Tyotkino.
At the start of the offensive, Russian channels also reported a strike by Ukrainian tactical aviation on a bridge over the Seym River in the village of Zvannoye. It was one of three crossings connecting the Glushkovsky district with the rest of the Kursk region.
Back in the fall, this bridge, along with two others in the villages of Karyzh and Glushkovo, was destroyed by airstrikes. However, published photos show that it had been partially restored — the damaged sections of the roadbed were covered with pipes and filled in with soil.
After numerous airstrikes on the main crossings, Russian forces began constructing pontoon bridges, so it is likely that the district was not completely cut off.
Some Russian military sources also reported that the offensive operation had been preceded by a massive artillery preparation in the direction of the village of Tyotkino.
They add that due to poor weather conditions and rain, drone operations in the area were complicated.
It is worth noting that the right bank of the Seym River in the Tyotkino area was occupied by Ukrainian forces back in August of last year and has remained under their control ever since, thanks to its geographical isolation.
