A fighter jet belonging to the Russian Knights pilot group was destroyed as a result of a drone attack on the Russian Kushchevskaya Air Base in Krasnodar Krai.

Militarnyi reports on that.

The successful attack by attack drones took place on the night of May 19. The next day, low-quality satellite images of the airfield were released.

The images revealed a damaged combat aircraft, identified as a Su-27 or Su-35. They look almost identical.

Now, high-quality images from Planet Labs, published by Radio Liberty, show the impact in more detail.

The images show damaged aircraft such as Su-34 frontline bombers and Su-27 (Su-35) and Su-30 fighter jets.

However, the aircraft that attracts the most attention is the one designated as a Su-27 and bearing the standard livery in the colors of the Russian Knights flight demonstration squadron.

This group, established in 1991, has single-seat Su-27P and two-seat Su-27UB aircraft at its disposal. In 2016, the sub-unit received Su-30SM fighter jets.

And in 2019, they started receiving Su-35S fighter jets, indistinguishable from Su-27P on satellite images.

Therefore, it is currently impossible to say for sure what type of aircraft belonging to the Russian Knights demo team was shot down at the Russian airfield in the Kuban.

It should be noted that this was the second drone attack on the Kushchevskaya military airfield in the last few weeks.

The kamikaze drones hit a UMPK (unified gliding and correction module – ed.) bomb kits depot at a military air base in the village of Kushchevskaya.
