Russian Drones Found in Poland After Nighttime Attack

Poland has started discovering Russian drones that entered its airspace at night during a large-scale missile and drone attack on Ukraine.

Defence24 published a photo of one such drone.

According to unofficial sources, this Gerbera drone was discovered in the village of Cześniki, situated about 40 km from the Ukrainian border.

Another drone was preliminarily detected southwest of Warsaw in Mniszków, located in the Łódź Voivodeship, according to WarNewsPL.

Emergency services are already working at the site. Reports say the drone crashed in an agricultural field.

There are also reports of damage to a house caused by a drone crash in the village of Wyryki, Włodawa County, Lublin Voivodeship, located near the Ukrainian border. The damage to the building indicates a strike not by a decoy drone, but by a Shahed strike UAV with a powerful warhead.

According to Defence24, on the night of September 10, more than a dozen drones invaded Polish airspace. After detecting them, the military decided to shoot them down.

At around 11 a.m., Polish President Karol Nawrocki announced the completion of the operation in Polish airspace to neutralize Russian drones.

Early in the morning, a meeting of the country’s top leadership took place, at which, among other things, the possibility of invoking Article 4 of the North Atlantic Treaty was discussed.

Politicians discussed the need to strengthen Poland’s anti-drone defenses. The military promised to conduct a complete analysis of what happened that night within 48 hours.

Gerbera drone

The Russians are using Gerbera drones to overload Ukrainian air defenses during their attacks.

This is not the first time Russian drones have flown into Poland. Recently, a Gerbera decoy drone also crashed in a field near the village of Majdan-Selce in the Lublin Voivodeship, 50 km from the border with Ukraine.
