During the war in Ukraine, the Defense Forces of Ukraine eliminated the Russian top officer Dmitry Lisitskyi.
He commanded the 1st Airborne Assault Battalion of the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment of the Russian Army.
According to Ukrainian journalist Yurii Butusov, in 2014 he conducted combat operations against defenders of Ukraine near Ilovaisk.
Lisitskyi commanded the battalion tactical group of the 247th regiment, which attacked Ukrainian units that had broken through from the encirclement in Ilovaisk in the area of the village of Horbatenko in 2014.
In 2015, for his achievements in the war against Ukraine, the Russian officer was awarded the title of “Hero of the Russian Federation” from the Kremlin.
He had other awards, such as the medal “for services to the homeland” of the 2nd degree (2003) and the Suvorov medal (2000).
Butusov added that the enemy’s 247th regiment was suffering heavy losses at the front in Ukraine.
“The liquidation of Lisitskyi will seriously weaken the combat capability of the regiment,” the journalist believes.
In August 2008, the regiment took part in the Russian-Georgian war in the Abkhaz region.
His goal was to cut off the Kodori gorge from the rest of Georgia. Later he participated in the occupation of Senaki.
In 2014, the regiment joined the Russian-Ukrainian war. Russian military regiments have been operating on the territory of Ukraine since August 2014 without identification marks.
In 2022, units of the regiment participated in a full-scale invasion of the Russian Federation into Ukraine. On March 5, 2022, it was reported that the commander of the 247th Guards Air Assault Regiment, Colonel Konstantin Zizevsky, had been neutralized.
