The Russian military received another batch of Т-90М “Proryv” and Т-72 mod. 2022 tanks.
This is not new armor, but Soviet vehicles that were removed from storage bases and overhauled with the modernization to the Т-72B tank level.
The restoration of tanks was carried out at the Uralvagonzavod enterprise, which is located in Nizhny Tagil.
In general, the enterprise is modernizing the T-72 to the T-72B3 level, the T-80BV tanks to the Т-80BVM level, and working on the Т-90М “Proryv” with a new turret.
The exact number of tanks transferred in this batch was not disclosed; only 11 tanks are visible in the released video.
After the full-scale invasion, Uralvagonzavod began to increase the pace of work. They also began to take into account the feedback of Russian tankers.
Thus, combat vehicles began to be strengthened with additional protection: Kontakt-5 and Kontakt-1 ERA.
Nevertheless, it is increasingly difficult for Russia to recover Т-72 tanks and other models from old Soviet stocks due to shortages of components and equipment.
Heavy losses of armored vehicles during the battles, which lasted almost a year, significantly reduced the Russian tank fleet.
This forced the invaders to launch an active recommissioning and modernization of the Soviet reserves of armored vehicles.
The Russian tank defense industry has already lost the ability to install the French-Belarusian Sosna-U gunner sights, which the Russians previously actively used on their modernized tanks.
To compensate for the lack of thermal imaging optics on the Т-72, which should have been in the Sosna-U sight, the Russians replaced the old night sight TPN-3-49 with the 1PN-96MT-02 sight.
