In the Vuhledar direction, the Defense Forces of Ukraine defeated a large armored group of Russian troops.
The Russian military command deployed over three dozen armored vehicles to storm Vuhledar.
Enemy units were equipped with tanks, infantry fighting vehicles, armored personnel carriers, and engineering vehicles.
Russian forces formed a convoy and moved toward Vuhledar. As they advanced, the Russians started suffering significant losses.
Ukrainian artillery operated on their route, and the territory was mined.
The Russian military lost at least 31 armored vehicles and manpower in the battle.
The released footage by the 72nd Separate Mechanized Brigade captured approximately 15 T-72B3 and T-80BVM tanks, approximately 12 BMPs, 2 MT-LB armored personnel carriers, and engineering vehicles.
The Ukrainian 72nd Brigade reported that the 55th Artillery Brigade and the 35th Separate Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine also participated in the battle.
“It is reassuring that the friends from the 55th Artillery Brigade and the 35th Separate Marine Brigade support our commitment to cleanliness. Special thanks to the senior leadership for its powerful disinfectants,” the military stated.
The battle for Vuhledar started in November 2022. Then, Russia also threw the 155th Separate Guards Marines Brigade and 40th Naval Infantry Brigades, reinforced by other units, into battle.
After several attempts, they managed to capture the village of Pavlivka south of Vuhledar. However, it was not possible to take Vuhledar as this settlement is located on a hill and is not easy to approach. Almost two months later, Russian attempts to take Vuhledar resumed.
As previously reported, the Ukrainian military in Donbas defeated Russian marines and took prisoners from the 155th Separate Guards Marines Brigade.
