On Saturday, the Russian invaders announced the operation of their air defense in the occupied Crimea.
This was reported by propaganda media and the occupation authorities of the peninsula.
On the morning of April 22, eyewitnesses posted on social networks that the sounds of explosions had been heard in the Leninsky District of Crimea and nearby areas.
After that, the Russians announced that the air defense had been activated.
Later, the head of the occupation authorities of Crimea, Sergey Aksyonov, reported that the air defense had operated in the sky over the peninsula.
He noted that “there are no casualties or damage”. He also calls on local residents to “keep calm”.
According to Russian propaganda media, the cause of the air defense operation was a drone allegedly moving over the Sea of Azov in the direction of the Crimean bridge, which had been built by the Russians after the capture of the peninsula. It connects the occupied Crimea with mainland Russia.
It was previously known that the Russians used two anti-aircraft missiles to neutralize the aerial drone.
The activation of Russian air defense systems on the temporarily occupied peninsula has already become a common phenomenon. The Russians are trying to neutralize the drones detected from time to time in the airspace of Crimea.
In order to protect their facilities, the Russians use air defense systems of various types.
In particular, on the morning of Saturday, April 8, explosions occurred in the occupied Crimea. The residents of Feodosiya and surrounding areas heard the sounds of two powerful explosions. According to the information from local residents, the incident happened at approximately 10:59 local time.
Russian propaganda telegram channels started to publish photos of the missile wreckage that had fallen to the ground. These wreckage visually resemble the remnants of an anti-aircraft missile from the Russian S-300/S-400 air defense system.
