A Russian S-300/400 air defense missile struck a residential building in Novaya Adygea.

The media outlet Astra published the pictures of the impact.

The strike was recorded overnight on January 21, 2025. Video evidence shows the building being struck by a high-speed object with a trajectory consistent with that of an air defense missile. Despite this, Russian sources claim a Ukrainian drone struck the building.

The damaged high-rise is located in the Vinograd-2 residential facility at 25/1k15 Bzhegokayskaya Street, approximately 1 kilometer from an electrical substation.

It is likely that while drones were flying over the city, a Russian air defense crew launched a missile that went off course.

Russia’s Ministry of Defense reported that on the night of January 21, 2026, air defense forces intercepted and destroyed 75 Ukrainian fixed-wing drones. At the same time, the Republic of Adygea was not mentioned in the ministry’s official report.

This is not the first case of Russian weapons malfunctioning. On November 5, 2024, a Russian Shahed-136 kamikaze drone struck a high-rise residential building in Belgorod.
