Russia is increasing the size of its military to 1.5 million people.

This decision was made by Vladimir Putin, president of the aggressor state. On Tuesday, January 17, this was reported by the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation.

According to the Ministry, the Russian military should complete the increase between 2023 and 2026.

In the process, they plan to create new military districts, namely the Moscow and Leningrad ones, along with the self-sufficient groups of troops (forces) in the temporarily occupied territories of Ukraine.

In addition, the aggressor state plans to form an army corps in Karelia, as well as three motorized rifle divisions as part of the ground forces and two airborne divisions.

Also, the plan is to reorganize seven motorized rifle brigades into divisions in the Western, Central, and Eastern military districts, and the Northern Fleet.

Additionally, it is planned to strengthen the combat component of the Russian Navy, the Russian Aerospace Forces, and the Strategic Missile Forces.

Along with the increase in the number of military personnel, the number of training grounds will also be increased to ensure the practical activities of the troops.

The amount of training received by the military specialists in the current training centers of the Russian army will also change – they are planned to be expanded.

Recently, the Defence Intelligence of Ukraine reported that the scale of the mobilization measures of the aggressor state speaks to the plans of its leadership to create an army of about two million people.

Currently, changes are being made to the laws of the Russian Federation, which would regulate the mobilization. There are also active training activities ongoing at the training centers.

The DI believes that Russia plans to mobilize another 500 thousand people, which will allow the invaders to create strategic reserves.
