Canadian company Roshel has presented a joint anti-drone system with Leonardo, integrated into the Senator MRAP armored vehicle chassis.

This was announced in an official statement by the company on social media.

The new combat vehicle will be presented at the CANSEC 2025 international defense exhibition.

According to Defence Blog, the system is based on the Falcon Shield multifunctional system, which is already in service with the Canadian Armed Forces.

Falcon Shield provides high-precision detection, tracking, identification, and geolocation of drones.

It includes highly sensitive passive electro-optical and electronic surveillance sensors that work in conjunction with a radar system.

A key element of the system is a radio-electronic warfare suite that allows the operator to take control of the drone and land it safely.

“As a Canadian manufacturer, we are proud to offer a solution that not only reflects our engineering expertise and combat experience, but also strengthens Canada’s industrial and defense sovereignty,” said Roman Shimonov, CEO of Roshel.

The Roshel Senator armored vehicle is based on the American Ford F-550 heavy pickup truck and was originally designed for police use.

However, for use in wartime, particularly by the Ukrainian military, the model has been significantly modified. The Roshel Senator MRAP has been fitted with armor capable of protecting the crew and troops from small arms fire and shrapnel.

A key feature that distinguishes it from previous versions is its V-shaped bottom, which dissipates the energy of mines or improvised explosive devices with a power of up to 6 kg in TNT equivalent.

The armored vehicle is also equipped with a reinforced chassis, four-wheel drive, and a 6.7-liter turbocharged diesel engine with over 300 hp, capable of running on various types of fuel.

The frontline version of the Senator MRAP is equipped with a winch and infrared lighting for operations at night.
