RENK received an order to produce a batch of HSWL284C transmissions, which will be handed over to the Bundeswehr and foreign users of the PzH 2000.
According to the German company RENK, it received an order for 50 HSWL284C transmissions.
“Deliveries will be made to the Bundeswehr and international customers and will begin in October 2024,” the company stated.
The contract includes options for additional gearboxes.
The HSWL284C is specially designed for the PzH2000, which has proven itself in terms of performance and quality.
“As with all RENK transmissions, the HSWL284C guarantees the mobility of ground forces, reliably contributes to the protection of the crew, as well as high long-term operational preparedness,” the company’s press release reads.
The PzH 2000 self-propelled artillery system is based on a tracked chassis built on the basis of Leopard 2 tank components and assemblies.
The engine and transmission compartment and control room are located in the front of the hull, while the combat compartment and ammunition storage compartment are in the central and aft parts of the hull and turret.
The PzH 2000 is equipped with an 8-cylinder turbocharged diesel engine MT881 Ka 500 with an output of 736 kW (manufactured by the German company MTU).
The HSWL284C transmission from RENK provides four gears for forward, and one for reverse.
The customized suspension contains 14 torsion bars together with balancers and hydraulic shock absorbers.
As previously reported, in the first half of 2024, the German government approved the sale of the latest 155-mm wheeled RCH 155 self-propelled artillery systems to Qatar, which will in return transfer 12 PzH 2000 to Ukraine.
