Portugal announced the transfer of a new batch of M113 armored personnel carriers and 105mm towed howitzers to Ukraine.
The Ministry of Defense of the Portuguese Republic reported that the new package of military equipment is added to 180 tons of ammunition and 5 armored treatment vehicles.
“We transfer 14 more М113 armored personnel carriers and a battery of 105mm howitzers (probably М101А1 – ed.),” representatives of Portugal shared.
In April, the Portuguese government announced the transfer of five armored treatment vehicles based on M113 armored personnel carriers and M577 Command Post Vehicle to the Ukrainian army.
In total, Portugal handed over 45 vehicles of the М113 family to Ukraine.
Earlier, Portugal handed over a battery of M114 155mm howitzers to the Armed Forces.
In addition, Ukraine received eight high-power generators.
It was also recently reported that Ukraine will receive, in particular, Portuguese Tekever AR3 UAVs as part of international military assistance.
As for Portuguese aviation, Portuguese Foreign Minister João Gomes Cravinho stated that his country would not provide Ukraine with F-16 aircraft within the “coalition of fighters,” but was ready to join the training of personnel.
According to the Head of the Portuguese Foreign Ministry, sending F-16 is “an issue that is not being discussed” as “Portugal does not have an unlimited number of aircraft.”
“We have those (aircraft – ed.) which we need to fulfill our national obligations, as well as in NATO, so at the moment, this issue does not arise,” Cravigno said.
Portugal also transferred three Leopard 2A6 to Ukraine. Portugal continues to support the Ukrainian fight against Russia’s illegal invasion.
