Poland has ordered 80 Rosomak-L wheeled armored personnel carriers for its army.

The contract was signed by the Polish Ministry of Defense on Tuesday, December 17.

The deal is worth about PLN 4.3 billion, which is almost €1 billion. It also includes a logistics and training package.

The Ministry of Defense noted that the contract also provides for the possibility of supplying more armored personnel carriers in the event of an increase in the manufacturer’s production capacity and the needs of the Polish army.

The ordered Rosomak-L armored personnel carriers will be equipped with the ZSSW-30 combat module and will be delivered to the army in 2027-2028.

“The 80 Rosomak L vehicles are necessary because they are the main equipment used by Polish troops today. There is no shortage of Rosomaks in the ground forces, we have about a thousand of them, but they are simply essential in this most modern version,“ the Polish Defense Minister stated.

He also noted that in July the army ordered 58 Rosomaks, so a total of 138 of these armored personnel carriers were purchased this year, PAP reports.

Rosomak-L

The Polish wheeled armored personnel carrier Rosomak-L (long) received a 60 cm longer hull compared to the basic version of Rosomak.

This modernization increased the vehicle’s buoyancy and allowed it to be equipped with more powerful weapons, including the ZSSW-30 combat module developed in cooperation with Huta Stalowa Wola and WB Electronics.

In addition, the larger size made it possible to increase the armored vehicle’s fuel tanks by 30-40 percent. This significantly increases the vehicle’s range despite the increase in weight. In addition, the APC received a more powerful engine.

ZSSW-30

The remotely controlled ZSSW-30 combat module is armed with a 30-mm Bushmaster Mk 44/S cannon with a 200-round ammunition capacity and a 7.62-mm UKM-2000C machine gun with a 400-round ammunition capacity, as well as a dual Spike-LR anti-tank missile launcher.

The module is equipped with an automated fire control system developed by WB Electronics, stabilized sights from the Polish PCO with thermal imaging cameras, a laser rangefinder, and the SSP-1 Obra active protection system.
