Almost 300 thousand 155 mm artillery shells were ordered for the Polish army.

The relevant agreement was signed on December 22 between the PGZ-Amunicja consortium and the Polish Armament Agency.

This is the first executive agreement within the framework contract signed on June 1 this year for the purchase of up to one million shells of various types and calibers for the needs of the Polish army until 2029.

The contract value is almost PLN 11 billion.

Deliveries of nearly 300,000 155 mm artillery shells are scheduled for 2024-2029.

This agreement is a part of the realization of the multi-year National Munitions Reserve program approved in Poland in March 2013.

Under this program, conditions should be created for the timely replenishment of large-caliber artillery shells of the Polish Armed Forces in 2023-2029.

The program provides for the creation and further support of production capacities of the Polish arms industry at the level that allows to constantly replenish its own ammunition stocks.

And also, to use an excess production capacity for supplying shells for export. First of all, to NATO countries.

The PGZ-Amunicja group of companies that will jointly produce ammunition for needs of the Polish army, includes: Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa SA, Zakłady Metalowe Dezamet S.A., Mesko S.A., Zakłady Chemiczne Nitro-Chem S.A., Zakład Produkcji Specjalnej Gamrat and Bydgoskie Zakłady Elektromechaniczne Belma S.A.

In December, eighteen more K9A1 self-propelled howitzers were delivered to Poland from South Korea.

Having already received the fourth batch, the Polish military will now possess a total of 66 K9 self-propelled howitzers as part of a $2.4 billion agreement signed in August 2022.
