PGZ Considering Barrel Production for Krab Howitzers in Ukraine

The Polish defense group PGZ is considering the production of barrels for 155 mm Krab self-propelled artillery systems in Ukraine.

Jan J. Grabowski, Management Board Member of Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa S.A., stated this in an interview with Interfax-Ukraine.

He noted that the company was open to cooperation with Ukrainian arms manufacturers.

“We are in discussions with Ukraine about barrel production because we know it is a very important component of weaponry,” he said.

Grabowski recalled that PGZ was then repairing Ukrainian tanks at Polish facilities after they returned from the front. In addition, Krab self-propelled howitzers are being repaired in Ukraine, including barrel replacements once their service life has expired.

“One of the ideas for cooperation is to produce these barrels directly in Ukraine,” the Vice President explained.

He also mentioned that back in 2022, Polska Grupa Zbrojeniowa had established a company in Ukraine called Service Orel. It serves as a maintenance hub for Polish equipment located in Ukraine.

“That’s why we support the Ukrainian front through repair services and want this cooperation to grow even further,” Grabowski noted.
