The Pentagon plans to transfer 18 river-class offshore patrol boats to Ukraine as part of a new military assistance package.
According to the US Department of Defense website, these would include boats of three different types.
The plan is to hand over two 35-foot, small-unit riverine craft; six 40-foot maritime combat craft, and ten 34-foot, Dauntless Sea Ark patrol boats.
The WarZone came to the conclusion that the plan is to include the following vessels.
The small unit riverine craft (SURC) is a rigid-hull, armed, and armored patrol boat used to maintain control of rivers and inland waterways.
The SURC can carry 16 soldiers and reach speeds of up to 39 knots (72 km/h).
The boat has three mounts for heavy machine guns or automatic grenade launchers.
The SURC power plant consists of Yanmar 6LY2A-STP diesel engines and Hamilton waterjets HJ292.
The boat was designed by Raytheon Naval & Maritime Integrated Systems. The contractor for this project is SAFE Boats.
40-foot sea boats are most likely RPB (Riverine Patrol Boat) manufactured by Silver Ships Inc. The declared dimensions and quantity correspond to the contract that the United States concluded in 2020. America then purchased six such boats for an unnamed ally under the FMS procedure for $6.12 million.
These boats are designed to carry 20 people (6 crew members and a troop of 14 soldiers). The power unit of the boat is a 440-hp Yanmar engine and waterjet.
The Dauntless Sea Ark is an aluminum hull boat manufactured by the US Watercraft with a power unit of 750 hp.
It was previously reported that the Ukrainian Navy had formed a division of the river flotilla on the Dnipro.
