A Ukrainian drone operator managed to rescue a Ukrainian Defense Forces soldier captured by the Russians.
An operator of the 95th Air Assault Brigade carried out the rescue mission.
Initially, the paratroopers did not know that there was a Ukrainian prisoner of war in the position taken by the invaders.
Before he was detected, drone operators were dropping grenades on the invaders at these positions.
Then one of the cameramen noticed a tied-up Ukrainian soldier in the trench. It was a serviceman from another brigade.
“Our drone operator started to draw the attention of the prisoner of war by flashing lights on the drone,” the paratroopers shared.
The POW got his bearings on the ground, realized it was his own men, and started following the drone.
When the cameraman was leading the liberated soldier out, he met one surviving Russian invader on the way.
“The Russian did not spot the drone, which had another grenade on it, and started waving at the Ukrainian soldier, saying, ‘Come back,'” the soldiers report.
Then, the Ukrainian operator dropped a grenade from the drone on the invader, which wounded him and forced him to retreat. The operator then continued to lead the soldier out of the Russian positions.
“This is how warfare requires not only brute force but also ingenuity, which can successfully destroy the enemy and save your fellow soldiers,” the paratroopers said.
In December, it was reported that the Russian invaders hid behind Ukrainian prisoners of war during their assaults. A similar incident occurred in the Zaporizhzhia region, near Ukrainian positions close to the village of Robotyne.
