Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán has stated that Budapest has no intention of compromising on the resumption of Russian oil transit via the Druzhba pipeline.
He announced this on social media, posting a video with his statement.
In his address, Orbán stated that Hungary will “break through the Ukrainian oil blockade by force.”
“There will be no deals, no compromises. We will break through the Ukrainian oil blockade by force,” the Hungarian prime minister said.
According to him, energy supplies to Hungary should soon resume via the Druzhba pipeline.
“Hungarian energy will soon flow again through the Druzhba pipeline,” Orbán claimed.
The Hungarian prime minister also criticized Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s position on the transit of Russian oil. He said that Budapest would not support European Union decisions that would benefit Ukraine until the transit situation changed.
Amid this statement, Hungary continues negotiations with Russia on energy supplies, in particular through the Druzhba pipeline.
Ahead of Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orbán’s statements, Foreign Minister Péter Szijjártó visited Moscow for talks on energy supplies.
Orbán recently acknowledged the incursion of Hungarian drones into Ukraine.
