Norway plans to hand over all the promised F-16 fighters to Ukraine in 2025.
This was reported by NRK with reference to Defense Minister Tore O. Sandvik.
According to him, the transfer process is on schedule, but for reasons of operational security, the government does not disclose how many aircraft have already been transferred.
It is known that a total of six fighter jets were decommissioned in 2021. The government emphasized that these are combat-ready aircraft.
The first F-16s from Norway were planned to be delivered to Ukraine in the summer of 2024.
In February, Danish Defense Minister Troels Lund Poulsen said that Ukraine had already received 12 of the 19 promised F-16 fighters. The transfer is taking place in stages, according to the previously announced plan, which includes three stages.
In early February, it became known that the Air Force of the Armed Forces of Ukraine received the second batch of F-16s from the Netherlands.
The transfer of the first Dutch aircraft from the Royal Air Force was recorded in early October 2024.
In total, the Netherlands has pledged to provide Ukraine with 24 fighter jets as part of a military assistance package.
Denmark and the Netherlands lead an international coalition of fighter jets, within which Ukrainian pilots and technicians are trained to operate F-16s.
Recently it became known that Belgium would transfer two fighter jets this year, one of which will be used for spare parts.
As soon as Belgium receives the F-35s, it will be able to begin a large-scale transfer of F-16s to Ukraine.
