North Korea’s KN-25 heavy multiple launch rocket system has been fitted with a new chassis similar to that of the KN-23.
KPAWeaponsTracker, a North Korean Armed Forces observer, shared the photos on X.
The shift to a new chassis for the KN-25 is likely aimed at unifying the artillery fleet.
Originally, the system was mounted on a tracked chassis, with a wheeled version introduced in 2020.
The KN-25 missile system features a unique 600mm caliber and a length of approximately 8 meters, with a weight of nearly 3 tons.
These specifications make it the largest missile in its class globally, bringing it closer to tactical missiles.
The tracked version of the system has six launch tubes, while the wheeled version is equipped with four, and another modification has five.
During the first flight test, two missiles were launched from the east coast of North Korea to the Sea of Japan.
Both missiles covered a distance of approximately 380 kilometers and reached a maximum altitude of 97 kilometers.
The missile is equipped with a non-nuclear high-explosive warhead. However, in October 2022, North Korea included the KN-25 on the list of other missiles that can carry tactical nuclear weapons.
Recently, on August 26, Militarnyi reported that North Korea released footage of its own attack drones, similar to Israel’s Harop and Hero.
North Korea’s KCNA news agency reported that the “kamikaze drones” successfully completed the test, correctly identifying and destroying the designated targets after flying along various specified routes.
