A new meeting of the Ramstein Contact Group on Ukraine’s defense will take place on April 11, 2025.
British Prime Minister Keir Starmer announced this following a meeting of the “Coalition of the Resolute” countries held today in Paris.
The Ramstein meeting will be chaired by British Defense Secretary John Healey.
“The Secretary of Defense will chair the next meeting of the Ukraine Defense Contact Group on April 11 to secure more military assistance and support Ukraine in its fight,” the statement said.
This will be the second consecutive meeting of the Ramstein group under the British chairmanship. The first meeting took place in February in Brussels on the sidelines of a NATO ministerial meeting.
Previously, the United States chaired the Ramstein meetings, but the Trump administration declined to continue leading this format.
According to Keir Starmer, the purpose of the meeting is to send more military aid to Ukraine and support Ukraine in its struggle.
“Because peace comes through strength. This was one of the main messages that was reinforced and emphasized at the meeting,” the British Prime Minister added.
It was reported previously that the next Ramstein would be held in Brussels.
During the last Ramstein meeting in February, US Secretary of Defense Pete Hagel announced that returning Ukraine’s borders to those that existed before 2014 was an unrealistic goal and added that the US did not consider Ukraine’s membership in NATO a realistic outcome of a peaceful settlement of the war.
Hughes said that US President Donald Trump wants to end the war in Ukraine through diplomatic means.
He emphasized that this issue should be viewed from a realistic perspective.
