The situation on the Pakistan-Afghanistan border has deteriorated sharply. After a series of explosions, the parties exchanged blows.
On October 17, seven Pakistani soldiers were killed in a suicide bombing in North Waziristan, according to Reuters.
The suicide bomber drove a car with explosives into the wall of a fort where a military camp was located. Two attackers tried to break in but were eliminated.
At least 13 people were wounded. The office of the Prime Minister of Pakistan also reported the elimination of six militants involved in the attack.
The day before, Pakistani aviation struck the Spin Buldak district in Kandahar province. According to Tolo News, at least 40 people were killed and 170 wounded.
The Nokli, Wardak, Kuchian, Shorabak and Shahid districts came under fire. Residential buildings were destroyed, and civilians were among the victims.
The Afghan authorities accused Pakistan of the terrorist attacks in Kabul and Marg. On October 11, fierce clashes between border guard units took place in Paktia province.
According to Kabul, 58 Pakistani military and 9 Afghan soldiers were killed. Pakistan reported 23 deaths and the “neutralization” of more than 200 militants.
On October 15, the parties agreed to a 48-hour truce mediated by Qatar and Saudi Arabia. It ended without being extended.
Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that Islamabad had “lost patience” but was ready for negotiations.
The Taliban, in turn, responded with accusations of disinformation and provocation.
The new conflict between Afghanistan and Pakistan has begun: air strikes, drones, ground battles and the first casualties.
