SpaceX is introducing a mandatory firmware update for Starlink terminals that must be installed by November 17, 2025.

Skylinker reported on this.

According to the report, terminals that are not updated may lose network connectivity.

Under the new rules, beginning November 17, 2025, only terminals running software version 2024.12.26 or later will be able to connect to the Starlink network.

The update is required because Starlink’s network infrastructure, satellites, and system core are regularly modernized, leading to compatibility issues with older terminal firmware. If the terminal is not updated, it may remain functional but unable to connect to the network.

How to check and update

You can check the software version of your terminal through:

  • the Starlink mobile app
  • the Star Debug mobile app (People’s Starlink initiative)
  • your user account on the Starlink website

Updates are usually installed automatically when the terminal is connected to the network or turned on. If needed, a forced update can be initiated through the app.

In late September 2025, Poland extended funding for the operation of Starlink terminals in Ukraine as part of its support.
