The Museum of the Russo-Ukrainian War has received a new exhibit – a Ukrainian Bars jet drone. It has revealed the appearance of this drone, about which very little is known.

The Museum of the Russo-Ukrainian War posted photos and videos of the launch on its Facebook page.

“We have been hunting this beast for a long time. Finally, we succeeded. With the help of a brigadier general known in wide and narrow circles, we have received a unique exhibit – the Bars UAV. It is a missile drone that systematically and effectively destroys enemy rear areas. We sincerely thank the manufacturer’s team for the opportunity to talk about your work,” the museum workers wrote.

For the first time, the existence of this development became known during a speech by the then Minister of Strategic Industries of Ukraine Herman Smetanin in April 2025. He then listed new developments in drone missiles, including the Bars, but did not disclose any technical details.

“We could track this for a year. We have such cruise missiles and a class of new fundamentally different missiles – drone missiles. These are Palianytsia, Peklo, Ruta, Bars,” said Smetanin during the Ukrainian Arms 2024 briefing.

According to the BBC, the new missile is a private development that can be mass-produced in Ukraine. Its characteristics are similar to another model, the Peklo drone missile.

The source characterized the Bars as a medium-range strike weapon, as its range is about 700-800 km.

Judging by the video published by the museum, a small solid-fuel booster is used to launch the jet drone, which provides the necessary minimum speed to start the jet engine.

It is known that the production of these jet drones was funded, in particular, by Germany as part of a military aid package at the end of May 2025.

At that time, Germany allocated funds, in particular, for the purchase of Ukrainian Bars missile drones, Liutyi attack drones, and VB140 Flamingo interceptor drones.

The production of Ukrainian long-range weapons (Deep Strike) was to receive 400 million euros out of a total aid package of 5 billion euros.

“Bars was actively used, in particular in the fall campaign of strikes deep into Russian territory. For example, during the attack on the Sheskharis oil terminal in Novorossiysk and strikes on targets in temporarily occupied Crimea.
