Montenegro allocates aid equal to 11 % of the country’s military budget to Ukraine.

RFE/RL reports about this.

The Government of Montenegro made this decision on the occasion of the signing of the Joint Declaration on the Euro-Atlantic perspective of Ukraine.

On December 5, Prime Minister of Montenegro Dritan Abazović and President of Ukraine Volodymyr Zelensky, through video communication, signed a joint declaration on Ukraine’s Euro-Atlantic perspective.

“You are defending not only your own territorial integrity and sovereignty – you are defending universal values: the right of people to choose their future and the future of their country. We are ready to fully work on sanctions, we provide assistance to refugees, as well as financial and military assistance,” Dritan Abazović said.

Montenegro became the third NATO country to sign the aforementioned declaration after Belgium and the Czech Republic.

Zelensky thanked Montenegro for providing military and technical assistance to Ukraine since the first day of the full-scale Russian invasion. The country has also become a haven for Ukrainian refugees.

“I am sure that communities all over the world will understand that it is impossible to balance good and evil and that evil must be put in its place. I am sure that we will certainly do it with the whole world. Let’s make sure that Russia respects international law and the sovereignty of any state,” Volodymyr Zelensky said.

The Head of the Montenegrin government mentioned that Montenegro fully supports the territorial integrity of Ukraine and its right to choose which organizations to join.

As a result of the conversations, the leaders signed the Joint Declaration, which defines the priority areas of cooperation between Ukraine and Montenegro under Ukraine’s strategic course toward full membership in the North Atlantic Treaty Organization.

RFE/RL noted that over 10,000 refugees from Ukraine are staying in Montenegro, which itself has a population of 600,000.

It is not reported as of now what kind of military aid Montenegro is providing to Ukraine. In June, an additional batch of military aid from this country was announced.
