Latvia has held mobilization exercises of the national armed forces.
They were one of the stages of the Namejs 2024 comprehensive military exercise currently taking place in the country.
The press service of the Latvian Armed Forces reported on this.
The three-day exercise in Rezekne aimed to test the effectiveness of existing mobilization mechanisms.
In particular, they practiced alerting, accounting, equipping, and integrating reserve and national guard personnel into the unit for further combat missions.
They also checked the work of mobilization points that issued logistical support to reserve servicemen.
It is noted that these exercises in Latvia were conducted to test mobilization mechanisms for further improvement.
It is reported that the reservists received a summons about a month before the exercise. They arrived at the designated location, registered, took a photo for a service card, and underwent a medical examination.
After a short briefing on what awaited the reservists, they received their equipment, weapons, and rations and joined the further training course.
They then took small arms training, including disassembling and assembling assault rifles.
Those who successfully completed the training were assigned to units and began performing combat missions as part of the training.
Last year, Latvia reintroduced military conscription. Compulsory military service was introduced for men aged 18 to 27. They must serve 11 months in the military and will also be granted a one-month leave. At the same time, women of this age can also voluntarily enlist.
