After a missile alert was announced in Kursk, local residents reported a fire near TPP-1. Electricity was cut to parts of the city.
This was reported by local Telegram channels.
According to local residents, there was a power outage in the Seymsky district of Kursk. According to the housing and utilities committee, no power is being supplied from TPP-1 to the Promyslovaya substation.
Kursk TPP-1 is a combined heat and power plant located in the Seymsky district of the city of Kursk. The station’s installed electrical capacity is 125 MW, and its thermal capacity is 904 Gcal/hour. It provides heat and electricity to the Seymsky and part of the Central districts of Kursk.
Shortly before that, Russian monitoring channels warned of a missile threat. Reports of the attack came after the announcement of the power outage. After that, local residents published a photo showing smoke from a fire near the thermal power plant.
It is currently unknown what exactly caused the strike. At the same time, Kursk is beyond the range of the HIMARS multiple launch rocket system of the Ukrainian Armed Forces, so this option can be ruled out.
On January 16, the governor of the Bryansk region announced that the Ukrainian Armed Forces had struck the thermal power plant and electrical substation, leaving some residents without electricity and heat.
