It has been over two months that the Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana wheeled self-propelled howitzer has been destroying the Russian invaders in the Donetsk region.

This regards a 155mm self-propelled howitzer on the MAZ-6317 chassis.

The military strikes the invaders with high-explosive and cluster shells.

The crew of the artillery system told ArmyInform about its effectiveness during engagement.

“We are extremely pleased with this ACS, because its maneuverability and accuracy delight everyone who operates with it,” said battery commander Vitalii and continued: “Mainly we fire with high-explosive and cluster shells, and the fragments of some of them spread from 200 to 400 meters, which indicates the powerful crushing power of the howitzer.”

According to the battery commander, every day his subordinates fire out an average of 100 shells.

The main targets hit by gunners are the enemy manpower, ammunition depots, armored vehicles, and command and observation posts.

“Working in a position in general will take no more than 30 minutes. This is the time in which we go from our stacking point to the position itself, then we deploy, the gunner enters the coordinates, takes aim and we fire a shot. Next, you need to quickly stow and leave the position before the counterfire,” said the commander of the gun, Fedir, with the call sign “Zhytomyr”.

After successful fire on the target, the gunners stow, leave the fire position and return to the stacking point waiting for new coordinates.

2S22 Bohdana

According to the gunners, the Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana wheeled self-propelled gun has a high passability and successfully transported the military during enemy shelling. Even when the wreckage of the enemy projectile penetrated the wheel, the ACS still did not stop.

“Our howitzer is quite easy to control, has eight gears and many devices. The maximum speed that we reached on it was 90 km/h, and mainly we drive 60-70 km/h. If the weather is bad and there is a lot of swamp, then the main thing is not to stop, and it will definitely pass everywhere, despite its massive weight,” said ACS driver Denis.

Earlier, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian 2S22 Bohdana was mass-produced in several versions. These are, in particular, self-propelled howitzers on the MAZ-6317 and Tatra T815-7 chassis, which are already used by Ukrainian gunners at the front.
