Western countries have armed the Ukrainian Defense Forces with a variety of handgrenades for various purposes.
Recently, one of the military showed off its “collection” of foreign handgrenades.
The military showed German, French, Russian, American, Finnish, and Bulgarian grenades.
A French OF 37 high-explosive grenade was shown as the first in the “collection”.
The offensive grenade was developed in the late 1930s and was used by the French Army long after World War II, along with a similar DF 37.
Then the German DM51A2 grenade, American M67 and Soviet grenade samples were shown.
German DM51A2 grenades are universal. They simultaneously perform both offensive and defensive functions. In order to change the purpose of the grenade, you must either detach or attach an additional screen.
An offensive American M67 grenade was designed in 1975 to replace the obsolete Mk2 grenade. The fragments have a striking force at a distance of up to 25 m.
A Finnish M/50 Sirpalekäsikranaatti and Bulgarian RGD-5 and GHO-1 are also represented in the collection.
A Finnish M/50 Sirpalekäsikranaatti, or HE-fragmentation hand grenade, is a defensive grenade that was developed from the main hull of a 50mm mortar round. A Bulgarian RGD-5 grenades was presented by Dunarit Corp. In its turn, the GHO-1 is made by the Bulgarian enterprise Arsenal.
The military also showed a Russian RG-60TB hand-held thermobaric grenade, which contains fuel-air explosive and weighs about 240 g. They also showed a Russian RGR grenade, which forms a cloud of chemical agents, and a Russian RDG-M instant smoke grenade.
The “collection” also includes a Russian Zarya-3 stun grenade, which temporarily disorients an enemy’s senses through acoustic and light effects.
