The 80th Air Assault Brigade of Armed Forces of Ukraine showed its Stryker wheeled armored personnel carriers.
The photo was published by the press service of the brigade.
The APCs, which were received as American military aid, were involved in training personnel.
Lviv paratroopers are armed with a modification of the M1126 Stryker armored personnel carrier with a M151 Protector remotely controlled weapons station, which is equipped with a M2 heavy machine gun.
These vehicles are assigned to transport personnel to the frontline.
Some units of Ukrainian Air Assault Forces received Stryker in the framework of American military aid last year.
On January 20, 2023, the United States announced a $2.5 billion military aid package for Ukraine.
It included 90 Stryker armored personnel carriers and 20 Light Weight Mine Roller (LWMR) for them. The transfer of another batch of Stryker wheeled armored personnel carriers was announced in July 2023.
Stryker is a family of wheeled armored fighting vehicles developed and manufactured by the American company General Dynamics Land Systems. In the basic version, an armored personnel carrier is capable of carrying up to twelve people, in particular, three crew members.
Most APCs are armed with a M151 Protector RWS with a M2 Browning 12.7mm machine gun or a Mk.19 40 mm automatic grenade launcher.
Stryker armor protection is able to withstand a circular shelling of 7.62mm caliber rifle weapons. When using Mexas add-on ceramic protection, the circular protection of the vehicle withstands shelling from 14.5mm machine guns, and in the frontal projection – the hit of 30mm armor-piercing rounds from a distance of 500 meters.
The high speed of movement and patency of American APCs increased the mobility of air assault units.
