During a meeting on military security, Alexander Lukashenko stated that there is no need for mobilization in Belarus.
The Belarusian state media BelTA reported about this.
In his address, the self-proclaimed president emphasized that there is no war on the territory of Belarus, but he has been preparing for it throughout the years of his presidency.
“People are grasping all sorts of occasions: as Russia announced mobilization, talks were that Belarus would follow suit. I want to emphasize that we do not need mobilization. Fortunately, there is no war on the territory of Belarus,” Lukashenko said.
He also added that he was drawing “appropriate conclusions from the wars and conflicts that took place and are taking place on the planet.”
In his speech, Lukashenko noted that the armed forces are being modernized for the fifth time in Belarus, “adjusting to the current situation.”
“…As long as I have been president, I was preparing for the war. It was not me who devised the phrase “If you want peace, prepare for war.” I made it clear several times that we are upgrading our Armed Forces. This is probably the fifth upgrade already. We are responding to ongoing developments. And above all, we are drawing conclusions and learning our lesson from those wars and conflicts that have taken place and are taking place on the planet,” Lukashenko said.
The self-proclaimed leader of Belarus confirmed that the country is participating in the war against Ukraine on the side of the Russian invaders. He also laughed at the fact that Ukraine is worried about a possible new invasion from the territory of Belarus.
“As for our participation in a special military operation in Ukraine, we are participating there. We do not hide it. But we don’t kill anyone. We are not sending our military anywhere. We do not violate our obligations,” Lukashenko said.
He added that Ukraine has built fortifications at the border with Belarus and maintains significant military forces there.
According to Lukashenko, Ukraine has drawn groups of up to 15,000 military personnel to the Belarusian border, is setting up the engineering equipment for roadblocks and firing positions, and has erected barricades on road routes.
Units of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, together with the National Guard of Ukraine and the State Border Service of Ukraine, were recently working on protecting the state border with Belarus. Trophy armored vehicles were also involved in the trainings conducted in the Chernihiv region.
