Large Landing Ship Hit by Ukraine’s Strike in Novorossiysk

During the attack on the port of Novorossiysk, Ukraine’s Defense Forces damaged a large Russian landing ship.

The ship is of Project 1171. At the time of the strike, it was docked at a pier at the naval base, according to Babel’s sources in the Security Service of Ukraine.

Ships of this type are designed for amphibious landings on undeveloped shores and for transporting troops and cargo by sea. They can carry various types of armored vehicles, including tanks.

In 2022, Ukraine’s military destroyed the Project 1171 Saratov landing ship, at the port of occupied Berdyansk.

According to Militarnyi’s sources, the landing ships of this project, Orsk and Nikolai Filchenkov, remained in the Black Sea.

As a reminder, on November 25, Ukrainian drones launched a massive attack on Russia’s Krasnodar Krai. The targets included Novorossiysk, Sochi, and Gelendzhik.
