The KNDS (KMW + NEXTER Defense Systems) defence industry holding company presented a promising variant of the Leopard 2 tank with an unmanned turret.

Photos of the tank, which received the A-RC 3.0 index, were published on the official KNDS website.

The crew of the combat vehicle was reduced to 3 people, who, according to the company, are placed in a special protected compartment (capsule).

The turret design has the lowest possible profile, which significantly reduces the visibility of the tank. The turret has a tank automatic loading mechanism that provides a rate of fire of 3 shots per 10 seconds.

The turret is adapted for the installation of 120mm, 130mm, or 140mm guns.

The quantity of ammunition in the package is not specified, but manufacturers have indicated that it exceeds the standard capacity of the Leopard 2.

The turret can be equipped with a remote weapon system featuring a 30x113mm gun and a mortar for deploying smoke screens. Additionally, there is the option to integrate anti-tank missiles and drones.

The tank’s body is protected by reactive armor. Additionally, there is a possibility of installing an active protection system.

The weight of the Leopard A-RC 3.0 tank, depending on the configuration, varies within 60 tons, the length is 7.95 meters (11.17 with a gun), the width is 3.73 meters, the height of the tower cover is 2.4 meters (2.84 with a periscope), and the clearance is 500 millimeters.

The maximum speed of the tank reaches 65 kilometers per hour, and the range reaches 460 kilometers by road. The car drives an engine with a capacity of 1500 horsepower.

Militarnyi reported in March that Germany and France had entered into a “breakthrough agreement” to develop a new-generation European MGCS tank to replace the Leopard 2 and Leclerc.

Recall that MGCS is a project launched in 2017 by Germany and France aimed at replacing their current Leopard 2 and Leclerc main battle tanks.
