The SMG’s Kherson Shipyard received a new contract for the construction of vessels for the Netherlands.

In total, according to the agreement, four hulls for the dry cargo vessels will be built, the Smart Maritime Group press service, which owns this enterprise, said.

“Our shipbuilder have signed a contract to construct a number of vessels for a customer from the Netherlands. This is a good sign that promises a reliable load on the capacity of the enterprise for several years to come, full employment of workers and a stable salary,” the statement said.

In January, Kherson Shipyard began cutting steel for the first future dry cargo vessel, which will be construct according to the new contract.

Its maximum carrying capacity will be 5.05 thousand tons.

Construction of another new vessel, but already fully completed, will begin at the shipyard in February 2022.

It will be a large tug for the Ukrainian customer.

According to SMG CEO Dmytro Krasnikov, this year it is planned to increase the volume of manufactured products by more than 60 percent, which will amount to UAH 800 million.

Сomposite floating dock

Kherson Shipyard is located in the south of Ukraine, at the mouth of the Dnipro River, it was established in 1951, as the main commercial shipbuilding plant in the former USSR.

Recall that Pallada Kherson State Plant to manufacture a composite floating dock for Turkish partners. Turkish company Hidrodinamik Shipyard have signed a contract for construction and supply of a composite floating dock.

Pallada Kherson State Plant has to construct a composite floating dock with 8,500 tons of capacity. The marine structure shall be built on modern technology — the pontoon will be made of marine reinforced concrete based on sulfate-resistant Portland cement, and the towers will be made of shipbuilding steel.
