In the Pokrovsk sector, a Ukrainian FPV drone shot down a Russian Ka-52 combat helicopter.
The successful operation was carried out by fighters from the 1st Unmanned Systems Battalion ‘High-Altitude Predators’ of the 59th Separate Assault Brigade.
After being hit, the helicopter made an emergency landing, according to the Tysk Telegram group.
The drone strike caused a fire in the aircraft, which destroyed the Ka-52.
Commander of the Unmanned Systems Forces Robert ‘Madyar’ Brovdi said that the helicopter was tracked down using a fiber-optic FPV drone near the village of Nadiivka in the Donetsk region.
Militarnyi sources reported that the drone was manufactured by the Ukrainian company General Cherry. The FPV drone struck a suspended pod containing S-8 unguided air-to-ground missiles.
Following the emergency landing, the helicopter crew attempted to escape.
Several attack drones were sent against the Russian pilots, eliminating the two Ka-52 pilots.
“Drones piloted by the members of the 1st Battalion, 414th Brigade ‘Madyar’s Birds’ arrived to ‘assist’ the enemy pilots and put them down for good,” noted Madyar.
Analysts from the In Factum group suggested that the Russians had sent the Ka-52 to support the assault infantry on the very front line. It was 6 kilometers from the front line.
The Ka-52 is designed for reconnaissance and the destruction of armored vehicles, as well as air and ground targets.
This is not the first Ka-52 destroyed this year. In February, the Defense Forces used strike drones to destroy two helicopters—a multi-purpose Mi-8 and a strike Ka-52.
