The operators of the 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Drones K-2 saved 4 Ukrainian servicemen in 4 days by evacuating them with the help of ground robotic systems.
This was reported by the regiment’s commander Kyrylo Veres.
“Four days, four lives saved. These are our brothers from the infantry and assault units who are standing with us in the line,” he said.
The published video shows how the operators of the ground robotic systems were able to drive to the front line to the wounded Ukrainian soldier and evacuate him.
After the drone took the soldier directly out of the combat zone, his evacuation continued in a Dingo armored vehicle.
“Soon you will witness changes that will significantly increase the chances of an ordinary infantryman to survive. I’m not talking about our unit, but about all units of the Defense Forces. After all, the K-2’s job is to work in the interests of neighboring brigades and save the lives of their men on the ground. Unmanned systems have already changed the war – in the air and at sea. Now it’s the turn of ground robots,” says Kyrylo Veres.
In early December 2024, the 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Drones was created on the basis of the second K-2 Combat Group of the 54th Separate Mechanized Brigade.
“Our battle-hardened combat group is being transformed into the 20th Separate Regiment of Unmanned Drones K-2. We are scaling up many times over, which is why we need you! We open our doors to anyone who wants to join our ranks. There will be work for you both in the rear and on the front line,” Kyrylo Veres said at the time.
The unit’s website announces recruitment for the new regiment. They are looking for applicants for a wide range of positions, from accountants and auto electricians to scouts, UAV and electronic warfare operators.
According to the regiment, in addition to basic training, drone operators also undergo additional professional training at the school and continue to study immediately after arriving at the unit. Transfers from other military units are also possible, and candidates who have gone AWOL are accepted.
It is worth recalling that in 2025, the Ukrainian state has set a goal to supply 15,000 ground robotic systems to the army. Almost all of the ordered models will be produced in Ukraine, as foreign models are much more expensive.
Orders for ground drones are ten times higher than in 2024. In the second half of last year, the Ministry signed six contracts worth UAH 100 million, and in the first quarter of 2025, it signed 31 contracts worth UAH 6 billion.
