India Supplies Half of Russia’s Fuel Additives for Military and Civil Aviation

India has become one of the key suppliers of fuel additives that Russia uses to support its military and civil aviation.

The Independent reported on this, citing a report from the non-governmental organization Economic Security Council of Ukraine.

According to the report, more than half a dozen Indian companies based in Delhi and Mumbai supplied nearly half of all fuel additives imported by Russia in 2024.

Fuel additives are not exclusively military in nature – they are used to extend engine lifespan and prevent wear in both commercial and military aircraft.

India exports these products to dozens of countries, including the United States, and none of the Indian companies have been accused of any violations or attempts to evade sanctions.

According to the report, Russia may have used Indian fuel additives for military purposes – in particular, to enhance the performance of its Su-34 and Su-35S aircraft.

Overall, Indian manufacturers supplied nearly half of all fuel additives imported by Moscow in 2024 – approximately 2,456 tons of products worth $12.96 million, accounting for 49.6% of total imports.

The largest exporter was Perfect Traders and Moulders Private LTD, a company specializing in petrochemical products, aircraft parts, and technical equipment. It supplied 1,885 tons of additives.

Another major manufacturer, Thermax Limited, sold 287 tons of its products to the Russian importer Kapron LLC for about $1.3 million.
Overall, India is actively expanding its cooperation with Russia, particularly in the defense sector.

At the end of September, it was reported that India was considering the purchase of additional Russian S-400 Triumf and the latest S-500 Prometheus surface-to-air missile systems.

Russia has not yet delivered the final two S-400 systems but has promised to fulfill the contract by September next year.

Meanwhile, officials in Delhi acknowledge that the delivery timelines depend on the course of the war against Ukraine, which they are closely monitoring.
