The Air Defense of the Armed Forces of Ukraine shot down a helicopter of the Russian army.
This was stated by the Operational Command “North”.
Reports claim that the Russian aircraft was shot down in Donbas.
“Yet another enemy helicopter has found its final resting place in Donbas!” reads the statement of servicemen.
The exact model of the downed aircraft and the unit that hit the Russian helicopter were not specified.
Presumably, the Russian helicopter was shot down with a man-portable air-defense system (MANPADS).
The Ukrainian forces are armed with Soviet Igla Man-portable air-defense systems.
American Stinger man-portable air-defense system with an infrared homing head is also in service.
Additionally, the Ukrainian servicemen are armed with the advanced British Martlet and Starstreak man-portable air-defense systems.
The Martlet system is equipped with a universal lightweight multirole missile (LMM).
The Armed Forces of Ukraine had also received Mistral man-portable air-defense systems.
Mobile groups with Mistral MANPADS are already being set up in Ukraine.
