Ukrainian forces captured the Russian 24-hour OEB-1TOD monocular with a laser rangefinder.
The Russian device was demonstrated by Ukrainian fighters from UNA-UNSO.
It was reported that the device was manufactured in 2020 from non-Russian components.
“All the “katsaps” (one of the derogatory names for Russians) bothered to do is sew a bag and stick their tag, but why be surprised, a country that can only steal and pass someone else’s off as its own,” the fighters say.
The fighters found components of the following companies in the device: THALES, Quetel, LINEAR, Chicong, Vectronix, Xilinx, etc.
The OEB-1TOD laser device is designed for targeting at a long range.
It is most commonly used for missile adjustment.
It uses internal GPS combined with a laser to show the exact coordinates of the target and its altitude.
It also has quite developed thermal imaging and day cameras, which ensure the fixation of surveillance objects for reconnaissance or other purposes.
It is capable of recording and sending videos to the military command to identify important targets and gather information.
There is no official information about the technical characteristics of the OEB-1TOD device in open sources. At the same time, it’s known that in 2018 a similar device “TPN-1TOD” was presented in Russia.
Due to the presentation, it’s known that the operational range of the rangefinder channel of the TPN-1TOD reaches 7,500 meters.
