The German Ministry of Defense will be handing over hundreds of MAN HX81 tank transporters to the Defense Forces of Ukraine.

The German newspaper Bild, which has access to lists of military supplies for Ukraine, notes that the vehicles include all-wheel-drive vehicles, armored trucks and buses, and almost 100 MAN HX81 tank transporters.

Tank transporters are designed for fast transportation of heavy armored vehicles, including tanks.

In general, the German list of weapons to be supplied to Ukraine includes vehicles, personal equipment, sensors and reconnaissance equipment, ammunition, logistics support, small arms, and other equipment.

Yet there are no heavy weapons on the German list.

The German media notes that the total cost of all “consolidated” German weapons for Ukraine is only 307 million euros.

The MAN HX81 tank transporter with the 8×8 wheel formula was jointly developed by MAN and Rheinmetall. It was adopted by the German Armed Forces in 2013.

The vehicles are designed to tow heavy semi-trailers with a capacity of up to 73 tons, mainly for transporting German Leopard 2 main battle tanks of various modifications.

The MAN HX81 is 9.15 m long and weighs 27 tons. The tank transporter has a four-seater cab, which could be armored and weigh approximately 4.5 tons.

The total weight of a tank transporter with cargo can reach 130 tons.

The tank transporter itself develops a speed of up to 88 km/h and has a driving range of 800 km.
