Germany will be handing over its weapons to Slovenia, in return, Slovenia will supply the weapons to Ukraine.

German Federal Government is preparing an arms exchange since it cannot supply its own weapons directly, Faz reports.

Slovenia will transfer to Ukraine a large number of its T-72 tanks, in return, Germany will supply Slovenia with Marder infantry fighting vehicles and Fuchs armored personnel carriers.

The newspaper reports that Slovenia has requested the more modern vehicles as compensation. In particular, Leopard 2 tanks and Puma infantry fighting vehicles, as well as Boxer armored personnel carriers.

Christine Lambrecht, German Defense Minister, stated that Germany would train the Ukrainian military with the PzH-2000 ACS.

“We have the know-how of to train to use this. This is one of the ways of providing such support,” Lambrecht said.

According to Faz, the Netherlands will supply self-propelled howitzers to Ukraine. But Germany cannot do that, Christine Lambrecht said.

“The Bundeswehr is not so equipped, but where we could conduct training, we will provide it,” said the German Defense Minister.

The day before, it was reported that the German government has removed all heavy weapons from the list of military aid to Ukraine.

According to Bild, the Ukrainian side requested a number of heavy weapons from Germany: Leopard 2 tanks, Puma and Marder infantry fighting vehicles, Boxer armored personnel carriers, and Fuchs armored personnel carriers.
