The German government increased military aid to Ukraine by about €400 million.

This is stated on the German government website.

In the short term, Germany will allocate an additional €170 million to rebuild Ukraine’s energy infrastructure.

Militarnyi reported on the announcement of an increase in military aid on September 20.

Florian Toncar, Parliamentary State Secretary at the Federal Ministry of Finance, noted that the funds should be used, in particular, to “purchase military equipment from the arms industry.”

The money is planned to be spent on purchasing military equipment and machinery for the Ukrainian army, including air defense equipment, drones, and protective gear.

An increase in aid was announced during the second meeting of the Ukraine Compact participants on the sidelines of the 79th session of the UN General Assembly in New York.

Participants reaffirmed their solidarity with Ukraine in the face of Russian aggression and their determination to continue military, financial, and humanitarian support for Ukraine as long as necessary.

They emphasized their support for a comprehensive, just, and lasting peace based on international law, including the United Nations Charter and the principles enshrined therein.

The participants of the treaty condemned Russia’s ongoing missile and drone attacks on Ukrainian energy infrastructure and cities across Ukraine, which seriously threaten Ukraine’s energy security and the Ukrainian population’s access to vital services such as electricity, heat, and water.

“At today’s meeting, we adopted a Joint Declaration of the G7 countries and other parties to the Association Agreement to support Ukraine’s economic recovery and reconstruction. It reaffirms the readiness to provide military, financial, and humanitarian assistance, as well as support for reconstruction,” the statement said.

Thus, the G7 partners reaffirm their commitments made at the G7 Summit to provide additional funds totaling about $50 billion by the end of the year.
