The German government has allocated up to €50 million for the admission and treatment of wounded Ukrainian soldiers.
This statement is published on the German government’s website.
In the future, the costs of inpatient treatment of war wounded will be paid by the Federal Administration Office without bureaucratic procedures.
“For two and a half years now, people have been dying every day in Ukraine as a result of the bloody war unleashed by Putin. Many soldiers and civilians have been horribly injured. From the very beginning, it was clear to us that we would support Ukraine and the people who are experiencing incredible suffering. We have already evacuated 1,173 seriously injured and traumatized Ukrainian soldiers and civilians and provided them with treatment in German hospitals. This assistance is an imperative of humanity – and we continue to provide it with all our might,” stated Federal Minister of the Interior Nancy Faeser.
The German government emphasizes that Germany continues to stand firmly on the side of Ukraine and has therefore promised to accept the wounded for treatment in Germany in early 2022.
German clinics support the government’s decision and are doing an outstanding job using their expertise to treat Ukrainian soldiers.
According to the statement, the treatment of soldiers is an important contribution to supporting Ukraine in its fight against the Russian invasion.
“The admission procedure and the structure of assistance in recent years have led to a number of administrative difficulties and problems in processing for victims, hospitals and local authorities. These problems should be solved by a joint initiative of the federal government,” the statement said.
In August, Militarnyi reported that the Ukrainian Ministry of Defence has commissioned Rheinmetall to deliver eight additional Forward Surgical Team stations for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
The contract provides for the manufacture and supply of eight Forward Surgical Team stations (FST) from Rheinmetall to the Ministry of Defense of Ukraine.
The order is part of the strengthening initiative (“Ertüchtigungsinitiative”) of the Federal Government of Germany. The delivery is expected to begin in 2024 and to be completed by the end of 2026.
The order comprises eight turnkey-ready systems, equipped with highly modern medical technology, among them an x-ray-container, an operating theater and a unit for intensive care on the standard of a modern hospital.
