At Belgium’s request, the members of the German Armed Forces have arrived in the country to help counter unidentified drones.
European Pravda reported on this, citing DPA.
Unmanned aerial vehicles have been spotted over military and industrial sites and have also been disrupting civilian air traffic.
Germany’s Federal Ministry of Defence reported that the first units of the German Air Force have already arrived in Belgium.
Their task is to assess the situation and coordinate with the Belgian Armed Forces on the temporary use of drone detection and countermeasure systems.
“The main forces will arrive shortly,” the Defense Ministry added.
On the morning of November 7, the airport in the Belgian city of Liège suspended operations due to an unidentified drone. This is already the third such incident at the airport within a week.
The airport reported that the suspension began at 6:56 a.m. and lasted until nearly 8:00 a.m.
At the same time, the Belgian Armed Forces were ordered to shoot down any unidentified drones flying over military bases.
