The Ukrainian military began using Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled guns against enemy aircraft.

A video of these air defense weapons was published on social media.

Gepard works in cooperation with the Osa-AKM anti-aircraft missile system.

Ukraine received these anti-aircraft artillery systems from Germany.

Gepard SPAAGs hit targets at a distance of 100 meters and up to 4 km. Their crew consists of only three people: a driver, a commander and a gunner.

The German system has an automated fire control system. It takes into account atmospheric pressure, air temperature and humidity, as well as wind speed and direction. All this allows the gunner more time to react.

The system is designed to shield important infrastructure and military units from attacks by helicopters and aircraft at low and ultra-low altitudes.

Gepard SPAAG is based on the chassis of the Leopard 1 tank.

Two 35mm Oerlikon KDA guns and two radars, which determine the target at a distance of up to 15 km, are installed on the tower, which is capable of making a full turn.

Last week, Germany handed over six Gepard more self-propelled units and 6000 rounds to Ukraine. Now the Ukrainian army has 30 such German installations in service.

Over the past month, the Ukrainian military received about 49 thousand shells for these anti-aircraft installations.

The first Gepard anti-aircraft self-propelled artillery arrived in Ukraine in July this year.
