To investigate the Russian war crimes, France has sent experts in ballistics, explosives, DNA processing, and other fields to Ukraine.

Militarnyi informs about this.

The French support was mentioned in a joint communiqué of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of France, Ukrinform reports.

“Following the uncovering of mass crimes in Ukraine in areas previously occupied by Russian troops, including Bucha, France, together with Ukrainians, its international partners, and the Courts, is determined to prevent impunity for the horrific acts of war crimes,” reads the statement.

It is noted that according to the instructions of the President of France, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs along with the Ministry of Interior and the Ministry of Justice would be providing support for the efforts of the Ukrainian authorities and international jurisdictions, in particular the International Criminal Court, in the framework of investigations they launched in connection with the war in Ukraine.

Yesterday, on April 11, a technical group of the Ministry of Internal Affairs had arrived in Ukraine. It was instructed to assist the Ukrainian authorities with expertise in the detection and collection of evidence.

“The team includes two forensic doctors and approximately 15 gendarmes from the National Gendarmerie’s Criminal Research Institute, who are the experts in crime scene investigation and victim identification. In particular, they have recognized experience in ballistics, explosives, DNA collection and processing, and fingerprinting. The technical team will be setting up a work process for the inspection and identification of bodies. In addition, it will deploy LAB’ADN, a mobile universal laboratory for rapid genetic analysis,” said the statement.

The team will also be assisting the Ukrainian authorities in the collection of evidence and will be contributing to the investigations of the International Criminal Court.

France has also sent two prosecutors and ten investigators to support the International Criminal Court and has made an additional financial contribution of €500,000 for the smooth operation of the International Criminal Court’s activities.
