A Russian S-300/400 air defense system launcher has been added to the list of Russian military losses.
The launcher was struck last year, but the Come Back Alive Foundation only recently released footage of the attack.
Aerial reconnaissance units from Ukraine’s 43rd Artillery Brigade located the Russian air defense system, which had been positioned near a forest to provide cover for Russian troops.
Ukrainian drone operators relayed the target’s coordinates to the country’s Defense Forces.
Based on the video, the strike was carried out with high-precision weaponry, likely the U.S.-supplied M142 HIMARS rocket system.
The footage captures two explosions above the launcher, followed by the detonation of an anti-aircraft missile, scattering debris over a wide area.
The attack severely damaged the S-300/400 launcher. The explosion of its own missile likely contributed to the destruction. It is also possible that the crew was injured or killed.
The exact date and location of the strike have not been disclosed. Ukrainian forces have previously targeted Russian air defense systems not only in occupied territories but also within Russia itself.
The Come Back Alive Foundation has launched a fundraising campaign with Dmytro Antonov to raise UAH 3 million for a mobile UAV control center for the 43rd Artillery Brigade.
Last week, the Foundation published previously unreleased footage from last year showing the destruction of the Russian Kasta radar station.
This radar was also identified by the 43rd Artillery Brigade’s reconnaissance drones before being targeted with high-precision missiles, likely from a HIMARS system.
